How did you grow this summer? How were your beliefs challenged?
I think I grew a lot this summer. I really got challenged with knowing how to live my faith in a secular place. I have always been in the Christian bubble and have never really had any friends of a different faith. This summer I really got a chance to try and explain my faith to people from different cultures and different religions and it was really cool. I had to dig into the Word to find some of the answers and then try and live it out the best I could.
Explain some specific incidents where you saw God at work in your life and through your ministry this summer.
When I came here I really did not want to ever preach and that really changed for me. I still am shy and don't prefer to speak, but I am more willing to. One of the times I had had a hard time trying to find something to talk about and was up until the wee hours of Sunday morning. I finished, but when I started I completely changed what I was going to say. It ended up turning out really well and I think affecting the people a lot more. It was a complete God thing that He had me do that and used it. It was so cool and it really encouraged me.
What surprised you about this summer? How was your experience different than what you expected?
What really surprised me about this summer was how many friends I made that were of a different faith. I actually made a lot of really good friends outside of the ministry team and I came here expecting that I would only have ministry team friends. I did make friends with the people in the ministry, but I found myself hanging out with people that were from different countries more and in turn being able to minister to them.
