Representative Data and Demographics from ACMNP's Recent Ministry Years
- An annual average of 225 students have served as park ministry staff with ACMNP over the past five years.
- Eighty percent of these students come from approximately 30 different denominations. The remaining twenty percent come from nondenominational churches. This latter percentage is increasing.
- Twenty-six seminarians from 18 different seminaries participated with ACMNP as park ministry staff and staff team leaders in 2006. About one-third had participated with ACMNP before.
- ACMNP ministry staff were placed in 25 National Parks in 2007.
- Fifty percent of recent ACMNP ministry staff have been assigned in four large parks: Yellowstone, Glacier, Grand Teton, and Grand Canyon.
- Yellowstone had 2.9 million recreational visitors in 2006, Yosemite 3.4 million, Great Smoky Mountains 9.2 million, Everglades 950,000, Grand Canyon 4.2 million, Acadia, 2.1 million. (Data from NPS 2006 stats website. http://www2.nature.nps.gov/stats/)
- About 175 worship services are conducted at 75 sites each week during the summer in the national parks by ACMNP park ministry staff. Total attendance averages ~3,000/week.
- 28,000 volunteer hours per year are committed to the work and ministry of ACMNP by the ACMNP park staff (8 hrs/wk), Ministry Support Committees, and Board members.
- Orientation and training events are held for new ministry staff in 13 locations each spring.
- There are over 15,000 ACMNP alumni; approximately half are in the ACMNP database.
- ACMNP has 81 Board Members representing over 20 Christian church denominations.
