Worship for A Christian Ministry in the National Parks is unique in that we seek to provide worship opportunities for park visitors, seasonal workers, and National Park Service employees. We draw upon our broad background of inter-denominational connections to the Protestant church and common belief in Christ as Lord. We claim the promise of scripture that says, “Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them” (Matthew 18:20). In response to the breadth of those who worship with us, we claim the promise that “there is one body and one Spirit…one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all” (Ephesians 4:4).
A Christian Ministry in the National Parks bears witness to the love of Jesus Christ for all people and God’s care for all Creation.
Leadership is the process of influencing people to move in a particular direction or toward a certain goal. Everyone – sometimes as a designated leader and sometimes undesignated – exercises leadership in some form. Christian leadership is an attempt to imitate Christ’s manner of influencing people toward God through service. For A Christian Ministry in the National Parks, the concept of developing Christian leaders is an inter-denominational process through which our volunteer staff in the parks develop a clearer sense of servant leadership by living their life in the park with an attitude of service. The emphasis in all aspects of developing Christian leaders is to equip our staff members to be effective servant leaders, helping them grow in their beliefs and gifts so that they will be better prepared to serve the church and world.
