In Memory of Gordon Compton

Jan 28, 2014

Gordon D. Compton, 70, passed away on Sunday, January 26, at his home in Freeport, ME.  He was born in Bellingham, WA, on December 9, 1943, to Ethel and Hosea Compton.  Gordon graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 1967 and worked in the retail business industry for many years.  He also graduated with a M. Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary where he went on to work and serve as Deputy Director of A Christian Ministry in the National Parks (ACMNP) for over 20 years.  He recently served as the pastor at Gustaf Adolph Lutheran Church and Stockholm Lutheran Church in Maine.  Gordon was known for making people laugh and comforting people when they cried.  He enjoyed nature and hiking. He was also an avid fan of all sports and followed the collegiate players throughout their professional careers, and particularly loved Boston and Seattle teams.  He loved with his whole heart and he will continue to be loved and missed by all whose lives he touched.   Read More
